Afuma is the name of a fern that clings to the bark of trees and never falls off—just like these acrobats. On their tall stilts, handcrafted from basswood, they float through the air. Their breathtaking dance is accompanied by words and drumbeats. The three acrobats, trained in the methods and techniques of their ancestors, skillfully incorporate contemporary acrobatic elements into their performances.
